Elizabeth Shaw Chocolate

*
Dating back to 1937 Elizabeth Shaw chocolate was first produced by Elizabeth Smith. She made Mint Crisps and Langes de Chat on a stove in her sister's home to sell in her brother-in-law's local shop. The name was for her company was coined as an amalgamation her first name and 'Shaw' from her husband Patrick's previous employers becuase it sounded pleasant to the ear.

Before long Patrick started distributing the chocolate to other stores. As sales grew, they soon needed proper production facilities. In 1938 a small production facility was established in the rear of 25 High Street in Teddington. Soon this became too small, and in 1939 production was moved to their own factory called The Mint House in Brentford, and then later in 1953 to larger premises in Camberley. Since then the company has continued to grow, even being visited by HRH Princess of Wales in 1991, and production has spread across Europe.
