Leonidas Chocolate

*
Leonidas Confiserie is a Belgian chocolate manufacturer with an international reputation. The company's main focus is the production of pralines, as well as selling solid chocolates, marzipan, and other confectionary goods. The company is named after its Greek founder, Leonidas Kestekides, a confectioner who emigrated to the USA in the late 19th century. Leonidas chocolates all have a logo on the packaging - an effigy of the Greek warrior and King of Sparta, Leonidas.

Leonidas Kestekides promoted his chocolate far and wide. In 1900 he travelled to France for his first exhibition of his products at the international food fair. Later, in 1910, at World Fair in Brussels he attended as a member of the Greek delegation from the USA, and achieved a bronze medal for his chocolate confectionery. While attending the 1913 World Fair in Ghent, he was inspired to enrobe fruits confit from Anatoli with dark chocolate. Many such inspirations followed, also by Leonidas' nephew, Basile Kestekides, who had the innovative idea of producing Manon. The company has never looked back.
